basis with the Obsidian Group, supporting them on their key strategic
hire for an Editorial Lead within their Dublin, Ireland offices.
This is one of the most exciting opportunities in Medical
Communications, offering the opportunity to build a business unit and
team from the ground up, working alongside the UK team with a huge
client portfolio so no requirement to be winning new business.
* THE ROLE:
* To cultivate and develop an Obsidian office in Dublin. As well as
working as part of the existing editorial team, this position offers
the opportunity to be involved in the future growth, development and
evolution of the Dublin office. Detailed responsibilities in relation
to the establishment of the new office will depend on the level of
experience of the candidate, but may include interviewing and
selection of new personnel, professional development of team members,
providing senior representation for the new office and regular liaison
with the Senior Leadership Group regarding ongoing management and
growth of the office.
* How are Obsidian structured?
* A full service, global healthcare communications Group delivering
exceptional healthcare communications and non-promotional medical
education through two firewalled divisions, Elements Communications
(delivering **Apply on the website**;hands-on**Apply on the
website**; pharma-supported activities) and Connect2 CME (delivering
independent **Apply on the website**;hands-off**Apply on the
website**; grant-funded activities). Elements forms the larger part of
the Obsidian offering and the successful candidate will work as part
of the Elements team.
* About the Elements editorial team
* A well-established editorial team including approximately **Apply on
the website** writers spread across experience levels and supported by
a central editorial **Apply on the website**;QC**Apply on the
website**; team of five editors/editorial assistants. The team is
primarily based in London and in Kent but has a number of fully remote
team members and a flexible approach for all such that we anticipate
the majority of writers will have a split office/home-based working
pattern post-pandemic.
The writing team is currently split into three main groups consisting
of ~**Apply on the website** writers each led by an Associate Director
of Scientific Services. We work very closely with our colleagues in
client services (whose team is similarly structured) to create
exceptional content for a solid base of long-standing clients who
respect the high quality of work we deliver.
* About the content Obsidian deliver
* Activities vary by account to a certain extent, but commonly include
advisory boards, symposia of various forms, internal and external
training materials, digital content for videos, websites etc and
strategic consultancy to name a few. We are also involved in
publication activities, but the opportunities for this are team
dependent and the role would not suit someone seeking a
publications-heavy position at this time.
* About the accounts Obsidian work across
* Teams work with a number of global pharmaceutical and biotech
companies and cover a broad range of therapy areas including
nephrology, heart failure, hepatology, oncology, haematology,
anti-virals and biosimilars. We also support the activities of a
diagnostics and a non-prescription medicines company. As noted above,
we have long-standing relationships with the majority of our clients
with whom we aim to develop strong partnerships, and our success is
primarily the result of maximising these relationships via organic
growth, client loyalty when they move between companies and client
recommendations.
